The Adrian Symphony is committed to life-long learning. The orchestra offers concerts and a variety of special events devoted to enhancing music education throughout your lifetime.
Casual Classic Concerts
Each year the orchestra performs Casual Classic Concerts that combine a social setting with a concert. Sit with friends at tables and enjoy a soft drink or choose something from the cash bar. You can reserve a table if you want, or just find some unused seats and make yourself at home. Choose between Friday and Saturday night, sit back, relax and learn!
The Casual Classic format includes a discussion of the music by the ASO Music Director, along with numerous musical examples performed by the orchestra. Later in the concert, the entire work is played without interruption to allow you to apply what you've just learned to what you're about to hear.
Special Learning Events
Adrian Symphony has several events that include an opportunity to learn more about music, ASO musicians and the Adrian Symphony.
- Classical Conversations: Prior to select Classical Concerts, Music Director and Conductor John Thomas Dodson presents an informative and entertaining discussion about the music to be performed on the program. Come early and hear the concert in a whole new way. It’s free to all concert-goers.
- Up Close: Members of the Adrian Symphony Orchestra perform short programs and answer your questions. For more information, call the ASO office at (517) 264-3121.
- ASO Onstage: You can experience an open rehearsal of the ASO. Watch the process of preparing the music for an upcoming concert. For more information, call the ASO office at (517) 264-3121.
- Coffee with the Conductor: Take an hour with Music Director John Thomas Dodson and learn a little more about music. There will be good coffee and plenty of time for questions. Call the office at (517) 264-3121 for more information.
