Biography

School: South Cobb High School
Instructor: Todd Skitch
Summer Camp: Schwob School of Music Summer Festival

Ezra Garcia is a freshman at South Cobb High School who began his flute studies with Tisa Schuurman. His growing passion for the instrument led to his acceptance into the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Talent Development Program in the seventh grade, where he now studies under ASO flutist Todd Skitch.

In his first year with TDP, Ezra has gained valuable experience through master classes with TDP alumni and acclaimed musicians. He has performed at various venues, including churches, Atlanta Symphony Hall, and the Rich Theatre. The program has also allowed him to attend numerous Atlanta Symphony Orchestra concerts and participate in the Schwob School of Music Summer Festival, where he was mentored by Professor Andree Martin.

Ezra has been involved in GMEA All-State and honor band, which has helped him develop his skills in ensemble performance. He treasures the camaraderie and support of his fellow TDP members and looks forward to attending a music conservatory and eventually joining a major orchestra. He also dreams of establishing his own flute studio to teach and inspire young musicians.

Outside of music, Ezra enjoys spending time with loved ones, go-karting, baking, gaming, and working on craft projects with his aunt. He has a miniature poodle named Azier, who is notably displeased with Ezra's flute practice and often gives him a disapproving side-eye.

Fun Fact: I chose my instrument because my mom played the flute when she was in middle school.
