Biography

Isabel Kwon comes from Okemos, Michigan and joins the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra after seasons with the Cincinnati Symphony and New World Symphony. She is currently finishing her Doctorate degree with minors in Music Theory and Arts Administration at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where she was teaching assistant to Eric Kim. Kwon also graduated with her undergraduate degree on full scholarship at the University of Michigan with Richard Aaron and a Master of Music at The Juilliard School with Timothy Eddy. During her first year at Juilliard, Isabel was named co-principal cellist of The Juilliard Orchestra and played under maestros Alan Gilbert, Mirga Grazinyte-Tyla, Gerard Schwarz, and Edo de Waart.

Kwon has participated in numerous music festivals such as Aspen Music Festival as a fellow, held residency in Avaloch Farm, Kneisel Hall, Masters Music Course in Japan, and Sarasota Music Festival. 

Outside the genre of classical, she has a passion for performing tango, which has led to her being a part of Stowe Tango Music Festival since 2016 and concerts all over the U.S. to Japan.
