Biography
Joshua Luty joined the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra as Principal Librarian in June 2023. Previously he served five seasons as Music Librarian for the Houston Grand Opera from 2018 to 2023, was Associate Head Librarian for the Brevard Music Festival's Janiec Opera Company in Summer 2018, and was Library Assistant for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra under Robert Stiles and Ethan Allen during their 2017/18 season. Joshua is an expert engraver and has an extensive background in music publishing as well, having served as editor and copyist for composer Joel Thompson, Lead Editorial Assistant for The George and Ira Gershwin Critical Edition, and was an editor for TrevCo Music Publishing in his hometown of Sarasota, Florida. Joshua holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Bassoon Performance from Lynn University and the University of Michigan respectively. He is a moderator on the ever-growing Facebook group Music Engraving Tips and as a co-chair of MOLA's Technology Committee is always eager to learn and teach new skills and software.
