Our new Associate Principal Horn Andrew Burhans (@burhandrew) sat down to talk about his audition, favorite composers, and plenty more. He told us that the work that he was looking most forward to playing this season was John Adams' Doctor Atomic Symphony and just did an amazing job a few days ago playing that horn part that he mentioned! Prior to joining the orchestra as our new Associate Principal Horn, Andrew was in his junior year of studying horn performance at Rice University in Houston, where he performed frequently with the Houston Symphony. Originally from Portage, Michigan, Andrew graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy. Aside from musical interests, Andrew recently adopted a cat and enjoys swimming, hiking, fishing, cooking, and traveling. #atlantasymphonyorchestra #orchestra #newmusician #q&a #interview
