In this enchanting tale, a young girl befriends a nutcracker that comes to life on Christmas Eve. Together, they embark on a fantastical journey to a magical kingdom filled with dancing sugar plum fairies, toy soldiers, and other whimsical characters. Through their adventures, she learns that love, imagination, and kindness can overcome adversity and create wonder in our lives.

The Nutcracker was adapted into a ballet in 1892, by Pyotr Tchaikovsky with a libretto by Marius Petipa, and was based on the story "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King" by E. T. A. Hoffmann.

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra is not performing at this event.

Our new Associate Principal Horn Andrew Burhans (@burhandrew) sat down to talk about his audition, favorite composers, and plenty more. He told us that the work that he was looking most forward to playing this season was John Adams' Doctor Atomic Symphony and just did an amazing job a few days ago playing that horn part that he mentioned! Prior to joining the orchestra as our new Associate Principal Horn, Andrew was in his junior year of studying horn performance at Rice University in Houston, where he performed frequently with the Houston Symphony. Originally from Portage, Michigan, Andrew graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy.
